Wendy Crane-Draper

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Wendy Crane Draper, who departed this world on January 3, 2024.  Wendy was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.

Wendy, born on June 28, 1965, was the epitome of joy and positivity. Her infectious spirit brightened every room she entered, making her the life of any gathering. Whether tackling daily chores or facing life's challenges, Wendy had a remarkable ability to infuse humor and fun into every situation.

Kindness defined Wendy's character. She had an innate gift for making others feel loved and valued. Wendy's warm embrace and genuine interest in people made everyone around her feel special, as if they were the most important person in her life.

Wendy faced adversity with grace and resilience. Despite experiencing both physical and emotional pain, she refused to let it define her. Her unwavering optimism and ability to see the bright side of life inspired those fortunate enough to know her.

A beacon of positivity, Wendy never judged others and always saw the good in people. Her thoughtfulness knew no bounds, and she consistently sought ways to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her.

Love permeated every fiber of Wendy's being. Her heart overflowed with a boundless and selfless love that she generously shared with family, friends, and acquaintances alike. Wendy's love was a guiding light, bringing warmth and comfort to all who crossed her path.

Wendy was preceded in death by her mother, Sherry Carlson Crane. She is survived by her father, Michael (Judi) Crane and her sisters, Michelle (Steve) Butterfield, Kristy (Steve) Hanni, and Patty (Shay) Goff with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Their sisterhood was a testament to the strength of family and their connection will forever be cherished.

Wendy’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. Not only to her biological children, but anyone who found themselves in need of a mother's love. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and their happiness brought her immeasurable joy. She is survived by her children, Timothy (Jenny) Bateman, Markus (Dayloni) Bateman, Jeffery (Ellen) Bateman, and Tricia (Joe) Keeler; her grandchildren Samuel (10), Bennett (9), Westin (7), Eli (7), and Isley (5); and countless others whom she “adopted” through her boundless and selfless love.  

Wendy's own marriages were a testament to her capacity for love. She is also survived by her devoted husband, Wayne “Mel” Draper, her soulmate, who was always by her side and never lost hope. He was the rock in the storm that fought and who cared for her unwaveringly for 474 days while she bravely fought her illness.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her entire life, Wendy dedicated herself to her religious beliefs. She served in various callings, embodying her commitment to her Heavenly Father and Savior with unwavering devotion. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and solace in times of joy and trial.

Wendy spent over a year fighting her illness day to day so that she could see and hear from her many loved ones just one more day. The family and Wendy extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical professionals and staff at Coral Desert Rehabilitation and the ICU at Dixie Regional Medical Care who tirelessly cared for her during this challenging time. Their compassion and commitment were a source of comfort and support.

As we mourn the loss of Wendy, we also celebrate the beautiful life she led and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory live on in the stories we share and the love she bestowed upon us all.  

A memorial service to celebrate Wendy's life will take place on Saturday, January 13th, at 628 S 3000 E, Washington, Utah 84780. The viewing will commence at 10 am, followed by the funeral at 12 pm. Directly after the funeral, a graveside service will be held.  We invite you to send your cherished memories and photos to celebratinglifewithwendy@gmail.com. The memories will be read as part of the funeral service as time allows and a copy of them be rested at Wendy’s side so she will be able to cherish them for eternity.

Rest in peace, dear Wendy. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
