Wanda Mae Drake passed away at her home in Veyo, Utah on July 16, 2017 at the age of 87. She was born on December 6, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William Harvey and Grace McKinney Johnson. She was married to Jack Jonell Drake in Ponca City, Oklahoma on April 14, 1948.
She lived a full and very blessed life, beloved by all who knew her, especially by her family. She was a very kind and giving person, willing to sacrifice all she had for those in need. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and her lady friends known as the “Fab 5”. Her hobbies included genealogical research, painting nature scenes and portraits and doing yard work.
She is survived by six of her seven children. These are, from oldest to youngest: Andrew Merle Drake, Ronald Joe Drake, David Allen Drake, John Paul Drake, Christina Maria Jordan, and Gina Lynn Delapinia. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack and her son Michael. She also had 42 grand and 40 great grand children.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the LDS Chapel located at 176 East Center Street, Veyo, Utah from 8:00 am to 9:45 am. The Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 am with the Interment held in the Veyo City Cemetery.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 S, St. George, Utah, (435) 674-5000. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gina Delapinia at 450 East, 800 North, #10, Hurricane, Utah 84737.
