Thomas Lorin Petersen

How do you sum up a lifetime of memories and accomplishments in a few paragraphs? Anyone who knew Tom, knows that this feat would be impossible but here it goes:

There were a lot of great and memorable things that occurred in 1942. Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” was a hit, Daylight Savings Time was initiated, Casablanca was in theaters, a gallon of gas cost 9¢, and the most amazing man was born, our father and husband Thomas Lorin Petersen. Tom was born in Preston, Idaho and later moved to Sacramento, California. Tom moved to Granger, Utah during high school, where he met the love of his life, Carol, who just so happened to have a swimming pool at her parents’ house. They later married and had 3 awesome children.

Tom turned his love for the outdoors into a thriving hunting and fishing accessory business. This allowed him to travel the world, where he left a lasting impression with everyone he met. Tom thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting, tennis, gambling, watching CNN, and his time working with hunting dogs at the Big Game Hound Association. For a short time, he was even an auctioneer. Tom loved to tell stories and make people laugh.

In 2013, Tom sold his business and retired to Southern Utah. In spite of his declining health, Tom enjoyed spending time with family, playing card games. On July 30th , surrounded by his family, Tom peacefully passed away at home.

Tom’s legacy consists of his wife Carol, children Bob, Cindy, Melissa Baldwin (Greg) and grandchildren Robbie, Steven, Shandy, Kole, Austin, Logan, Megan, Braxon, Reegan “Chips”, Connor and 2 great grandchildren Taisley and Emery.

As everyone who knew Tom knows his favorite pastime was going out to eat and socializing. In honor of this, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank St. George Regional Hospital ICU, Dixie Hospice and Hughes Mortuary for their compassionate and professional care.

Tom, even though we still talk to you, our hearts still look for you. We know you are at peace. We love and miss you!
