Shirley Ilene Windau Brown

December 15, 1935 — December 9, 2024

Tremonton

Shirley Brown, 88, died peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Our House Assisted Living facility in Tremonton, Utah. She was born December 15, 1935 in Elgin, Illinois to Herman Windau and Elma Cox. Shirley spent the first 44 years of her life in northern Illinois and the next 45 years in the state of Utah.

Shirley’s four children were raised in Illinois and after moving to Utah, Shirley met and married Willis “Bud” Brown. She always had a job along with raising her children, and she enjoyed crafting, sewing, bird watching, attending plays and serving others. Following retirement, Bud and Shirley spent time traveling across the country to visit family and friends.

Her favorite job was teaching young children, and she had many receptionist and switchboard jobs where she could develop her skill for greeting people with kindness. She took care of stray animals and enjoyed all kinds of wildlife. Shirley was artistic in many ways and never tired of learning a new hobby and teaching others her craft. She was active in her community and church and had an unwavering faith in her religion.

Shirley Brown is survived by her four children, Harry Bendtsen and wife Kena of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Heidi Shaffer and husband, Brian of Garland Utah; Karen Vallejo and husband, Offad of Laguna Niguel, California; Linda White (the favorite child) of Tidewater, Oregon. Of course, there are many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well!

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother Herbert “Stan” Windau.

Graveside service will be held Friday, December 13 at the Santa Clara, Utah Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers of Our House Assisted Living and Atlas Homecare & Hospice for the care and love shown to Shirley during the last four years of her life.
