Scott Wayne Nelson

November 9, 1973 — August 12, 2024

St. George, UT

Scott Wayne Nelson, 50, of Saint George, Utah, passed away in his home on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 8:39am. Scott was born November 9, 1973, in Reno, Nevada.

Scott is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa “Charli” Marie Nelson, his son, Tanner Nelson, his two bonus sons Dylan Kimball and Aiden Kimball, his mother, Vicky Nelson, his siblings, Stacey Bremhorst, Stephanie Nelson, and Summer Carter and his many nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Nelson, as well as his grandparents.

Scott was known for his generosity to family and friends, his ingenuity in business, and his creative, artistic mind. Scott loved the outdoors and enjoyed adventurous getaways with his sweetheart, Charli, and his children.

While working as a paramedic/firefighter in Las Vegas, Scott became frustrated with the inadequate medic bags available for emergency response teams. Drawing on his frontline expertise, he relocated to St. George, purchased a sewing machine, and began designing a bag that would better meet the needs of emergency professionals. This endeavor marked the beginning of a revolutionary movement for emergency personnel worldwide. As the creator and founder of StatPacks, Scott's innovative bags are now utilized by hundreds of emergency departments across the globe. If you are unfamiliar with these bags, that just means you’ve not been trapped in a burning building or in the back of an ambulance. In the past year alone, Scott generously donated hundreds of bags to the Washington County School District and local fire departments, with the hope that life-saving care could be swiftly accessed in emergencies both locally in Southern Utah and around the world.

Scott's loving care for his family, his generosity toward others, and his open-hearted spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Though his mission on earth has come to an end, his family looks forward to reuniting with him in eternal peace.

Funeral services will be held on August 31 at 1:09 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Buena Vista Stake Center located at 860 W Fairway Drive, Washington, UT. All who would like to celebrate his life are welcome to attend.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Hughes Mortuary and to the first responders who arrived on the scene, StatPacks in hand, in their efforts to provide life-saving care to Scott.
