St. George, Utah. Scott H. Plummer, age 80, passed away February 22, 2025. He was born April 15, 1944 in Ephraim, Utah, the first son of Blanche Emma Swindle Plummer and A. Perry Plummer. He married Anita Roggenbuck June 5, 1971 in Stockton California. 

Scott grew up in Ephraim, Utah; graduated from Manti High School, Manti, Utah; earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Utah State University, Logan, Utah, a PHD in French Literature from Rice University, Houston, Texas, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston, Houston, Texas. He served in the US Army from 1968-1970. His career consisted of automotive and health product sales. He was a successful entrepreneur.

Scott and Anita lived in the Houston area. At that time, a beloved friend, Sylvia DeVoss joined their family after recovering from cancer. In 2006, Scott, Anita, and Sylvia moved to Utah; first to Spanish Fork and then to Santa Clara in 2008.

Scott is survived by his wife Anita Plummer, St George, Utah; sisters, Ann Miller, Manti, Utah, Susan Murdoch, Pocatello, Idaho; brothers, Mark Plummer, Ephraim, Utah, John Plummer, Corona, California, and Burke Plummer, Draper, Utah: and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Creer, Provo, Utah and Sylvia DeVoss, St. George, Utah. 

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 1072 East 900 South, St. George, Utah 84790, sponsored by the Unitarian Church. Interment will be in the Monroe City Cemetery, Monroe, Utah.

Upon meeting Scott Plummer for the first time, you would be greeted by a broad happy smile and a warm handshake. Later meetings and goodbyes would include a friendly hug. He welcomed everyone into his life and home. His generosity and caring extended to numerous people from many countries. Classmates and acquaintances knew him to be gifted in intellect, talented in athletics, particularly tennis, shining in acting, excellent in learning and speaking French, writing, remaining active, goal oriented, and a hard worker.

As he progressed in school, his leadership abilities became apparent when he was elected and served on high school sophomore committees. He was the Junior Class Activity Manager and Student Body President his senior year. He was active on the yearbook staff, debate team, United Nations Delegation, basketball, theater, cheerleader, and helping the school staff, and students whenever he could.

At Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, he was the Freshman Class President and the Student Body President the next year, as well as a member of Sigma Gamma. He was an excellent academic student and stayed involved with tennis and performed in theater productions.

Scott was very passionate about social issues he believed in and wasn’t afraid to join the fight. Scott had a deep passion for civil rights, women’s rights and environmental issues. Scott will be remembered as caring, loving, and kind. His life is a beautiful example to follow.
