Reid Scott Sorenson, 76 years old, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023. He was born on January 27th, 1946, in St George, Utah, to Reid and Amy Nielson Sorenson. Reid Sorenson married Norita Carol Thompson on December 15th, 1970, in Seattle, Washington. They resided in Seattle Washington area until 2002, when they relocated to Enterprise Utah! He loved this town!
Reid grew up in St George Utah and the Arizona Strip for about the first 7 years of his life, when his father was ranching on the Arizona Strip. After his dad became a miner they moved to Caliente, Caselton, and Pioche Nevada and then to Moab Utah. Reid loved hiking around the hills in Moab and learned to swim at the Apache Hotel, where we held a Family Reunion a few years ago.
Reid’s parents divorced when he was 12, and his family moved to Sacramento, California. In Sacramento, Reid started working on bicycles, motorcycles and cars as he got older. He and his friends would buy old cars and learn to fix them, then cruise up and down Main Street, thinking they were very cool! And they were!!
Reid graduated from High School and joined the Navy in August, 1964. He served on the USS HOEL, DDG-13, as a Boilermaker, BT 2, learning a Trade that he was able to work anywhere that he wanted to live, and he chose Seattle Washington. He was employed at Todd Shipyard, as a Test And Trial Engineer, then at the City of Seattle, Seattle Center, the site of the 1962 Worlds Fair running Power Plants and Air Conditioning. He also worked at Rainier Brewery, running their heating and Cooling systems.
Reid was a Jack of All Trades, he self-taught himself how to do almost anything that needed to be done. He learned how to build houses by The Law of Just Doing it! Sometimes he had to learn the hard way! He had a Masters Degree in Practicality, believed in Living within your means, believed in treating others the way you would want to be treated.
Reid Loved riding his 1978 BMW Motorcycle and would frequently ride to Panaca Nevada to swim in the Springs!! He and Jim Goad used to ride together and get into trouble!!
Reid had been diagnosed with Mesothelioma, Asbestos related cancer of the lung in November, 2022.
Reid is survived by his wife, Norita, who is living in their family home in Enterprise, Utah, with their 4 Aussies, 1 Mixed breed sweetheart dog and 4 kitties who are missing the dad very much. Reid is survived by his brother Randy Douglas Sorenson of Beryl. He is also survived by his children Jeff (Shelby) Sorenson of Beryl, Aaron (Dawnetta) Sorenson of Veyo, Teresa Felix from Puyallup Washington, Dawn (Darren) Watland of Arlington, Washington and Dean Sorenson of Oroville, Washington.
Grandchildren, Amber Carroll, Britany Wylie, Lindsey Sorenson, Ashley Sorenson, Skye Sorenson, Tyler Felix, Nate Felix, Daris Watland, Dakin Watland, Danika Willard, Josh Peterson, Daisy Peterson, Tessa Sorenson, Rocky Bringhurst, Angel Burgess, and Porter Sorenson. Plus many beautiful amazing Great Grandchildren!!
Reid is preceded in Death by his father Reid, his mother Amy, his brother James, his sister Judy Luse, and his Grandson William (Bill) Scott Sorenson. I can just see a party in Heaven going on!!
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 14th, 2023. Viewing starts at 9:30 am through 10:45 AM. Funeral starts at 11:00 AM. To be followed by Interment at the Enterprise Cemetery Enterprise Stake Center 80 South Center Street Enterprise Utah, 84725
