Ivins, Utah - Rebecca Savage Smith, 56, passed away June 3rd, 2021, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born November 19th, 1964, in Provo, Utah, to Don Hansen Savage and Anabel Clegg Savage. She married Kevin Martin Smith on October 20th, 1990, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Rebecca was raised in Sandy, Utah, and graduated from Alta High School. She later graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Rebecca served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the England Bristol Mission and has been a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ her whole life. She met her husband, Kevin, while they were both teaching in the Missionary Training Center after their missions.
Rebecca moved to Ivins, Utah, in 1994 with her family and has lived in Ivins ever since. She was a loving wife, mother, and nana who gave her all for her family. She was blessed with great friends and neighbors for which she was so grateful. She was the biggest fan of Tuacahn and enjoyed seeing shows and concerts. Rebecca worked at Vista Charter School as the school librarian for eight years, where she cherished her time teaching students the joy of reading.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Kevin Smith; parents: Don and Anabel Savage of Draper, Utah; children: Nicole of SLC, UT, Todd and (Taylor) of Ivins, UT, Tyson and (Kensy) of SLC, UT, and Jenna of Ivins, UT; grandchild: Claire; Sisters: JoAnn Briscoe of Franklin, TN, and Rhonda (Bret) Peterson of Draper, UT; twin brother Dray (Shelly) Savage of Lindon, UT; and brother Rod (Lynnette) Savage of Riverton, UT. She is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Rulon Briscoe, and cousin-once-removed, Wyatt Larsen.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 11 at 11:30 AM at the Ivins Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (260 E 1060 S, Ivins, UT). Interment will take place directly following at the Santa Clara City Cemetery. Viewings or visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10th, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and on Friday, June 11th, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ivins Stake Center.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 S. St. George, Utah (435) 674-5000. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to lung cancer research, to Tuacahn Center for the Arts, or other worthy organizations and causes.
