Phyllis Darlene Walker

St George, Utah--Phyllis Darlene Peterson Walker, 89, passed away Friday December 27th 2019. She was born December 28th, 1929 in Vineyard, Utah to Charles Abner Peterson and Marianne Petrea Olsen. She married Jack Lockhart Walker in the Salt Lake City Temple, August 15, 1958. 

Phyllis was raised in Utah County, the 9th of 15 children. A stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served a mission in Copenhagen, Denmark from 1953 to 1955. On her mission she blessed many lives through her testimony of the gospel and brought many to the knowledge of their Savior Jesus Christ. Phyllis was the mother of five children: Cheryl, Brett, Lori, Diane, and Brian. She loved her life’s work as a mother and homemaker. After raising her children and serving in her community of Escondido, California for 40 years, she moved to Winchester Hills in St. George. She loved her new community, and especially loved the Relief Society and all of the incredible women there. Beloved by all in her community, Phyllis was a friend you could turn to at any time of need. She always had an ear ready to listen, hands ready to help, and a heart ready to love. Phyllis made friends wherever she went, and imparted a spirit of love for her fellow man every day of her life. She had a gift of making every conversation meaningful (and long). 

She is survived by children Cheryl, Brett (Nancy), Lori (Timothy), Diane (Don), and Brian (Holly); her 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Jack Walker. 

A viewing will be held Thursday, January 2nd from 5:30-7:00 pm at Hughes Mortuary. An additional viewing will be held at 9:30-10:45 am prior to the Funeral services Friday, January 3rd 11:00 am at the Winchester Hills Chapel 5338 Winchester Dr. St George, Utah
