Phyllis LaRae Marrott Leavitt passed away December 8, 2015 at her home in Leeds, Utah. Phyllis was born March 6, 1930 in Orem, Utah, the sixth of seven children of Clarence and Gladys Marrott. She spent her teenage years in Provo and graduated from Provo High School in 1948. She met and fell in love with Van Leavitt, who was attending BYU, and they were married September 1, 1949. They moved to Las Vegas and raised three children there. Phyllis was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest child was in school, when she began to fulfill her dream of going to college. She completed a degree in Elementary Education, and graduated in 1968. She taught first grade in the Clark County School District for 24 years, earning a Master's degree along the way. She loved teaching and counted as one of her greatest joys watching the world of reading open up for her students. After retirement Van and Phyllis settled in Leeds, Utah. It was quite a change from the hurry of Las Vegas, but they adjusted and loved their life in Leeds. Thank you to all of the wonderful people in the Leeds First Ward for their care and friendship over the years. Phyllis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked many years in the Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. She had a quiet, sweet testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her dear husband, Van. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. Phyllis is survived by her children Terry (Kathleen) Leavitt, Leann (Ken) Lundgren, and Randy (Cindy) Leavitt, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 and funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 in the Leeds Chapel at 11:00 a.m.
