Patricia Karen Moody

July 27, 1952 — March 19, 2025

Hurricane, UT

Patricia Karen Moody (Bennett) peacefully returned to her loving Heavenly Father in the early hours of Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, at her cherished home in Hurricane, Utah, surrounded by her devoted husband, Dave. Patti was born on July 27th, 1952, in Sacramento, California, to Ralph K. Bennett and LaVieta J. Hand (Simas), Patti's life was a testament to love, creativity, and boundless affection.

Patti was a beloved sister to Sandi Aldrich, Steven Bennett, Jim Bennett, Tom Bennett, and Joseph Simas.

Her heart found its true match in August 1969, when she met David V. Moody in Reno, Nevada, during his leave from the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in San Diego CA. Their connection was immediate and profound, blossoming into a love story that spanned 55 beautiful years, beginning with their marriage on January 21st, 1970. Patti gracefully embraced the adventure of life as a Navy wife, joining David in Japan during his service. Upon their return to San Diego in 1972, their family blossomed with the arrival of their first child, Christina L. Moody (Tim) Johansen. They later settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they welcomed Denise N. Moody (Josh) Martin and Jeffery P. Moody (Jani), completing their loving family.

Patti was quite spirited and vibrant. In her youth, she was a graceful gymnast, a passion she continued to enjoy as a spectator. Her love for nature was evident in her beautiful flower gardens and her deep affection for horses, which she enjoyed riding and caring for. A gifted artist, Patti expressed her creativity through coloring and sketching, often capturing the beauty of horses on paper. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved cats and found joy in watching the wonders of the natural world on the National Geographic channel.

For 20 years, Patti dedicated herself to Smith’s Food and Drug, where she transitioned from the corporate office to the store level, becoming an assistant video manager. Her warm personality and genuine care for others allowed her to forge lasting friendships with colleagues and customers alike.

Retirement brought Patti immense joy as she poured her heart into her family. Her love for her husband, children, grandchildren—Jasmine, Alyssa, Kael, Valerie, Lukas, Isabel, Madilyn, Mikala, Mariska, and Hailee—and her seven great-grandchildren was immeasurable. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Patti was welcomed into the loving arms of those who preceded her in death: her brother Steven Bennett, her father Ralph K. Bennett, her stepfather Hank Simas, her brother Joseph Simas, her mother Jean Simas, and her beloved granddaughter, Mikala Moody.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated hospice staff (Summit) who provided exceptional care to Patti during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Humane Society or a charity of your choosing, reflecting Patti’s compassionate spirit.

A Celebration of Patti’s Life will be held in late May 2025, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory and share the love she so generously gave. She will be sorely missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
