Orson William Black Sr, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep September 27, 2024. He was born April 2, 1936 in Short Creek, Az to Leonard and Vera J Black. Orson was the oldest of his mother’s 12 children. He loved all his siblings and his mothers. He married Leora Wyler in 1960. They had 15 children together. She passed away in 2013. He also married Mary E. Jessop and they had 10 children. Orson had many talents during his life. His favorite was flying. He had his pilots license at age 18 and owned his own plane for a few years. He enjoyed traveling so much that he became a trucker and hauled loads all over the western US. He started a used furniture business and its success lasted over 30 years. He loved to fix cars. He spent many years with his dad learning the trade and was also a very good mechanic. Orson has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Colleen,his wife Leora, his children, Richard and Warren Black. His viewing will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 from 11-2 pm at the Hugh’s Mortuary 1037 East 700 South in St George. Funeral will be at 2 pm at Hughes Mortuary. He will be buried at the Isaac Carling Cemetery in Colorado City, Az following the funeral. His family wishes to extend their love and appreciation for all those who helped in any way.
