She was always proud of being the ninth child as she had eight older siblings and eight younger siblings. Nina Vee was raised in Mt. Trumbull, Arizona, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse until the 8th grade. She married her eternal companion Alfred Jesse Hughes on February 17, 1956, in the St. George, Utah, Temple. They were blessed with nine children. Nina Vee was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. She loved being a mother but most of all she loved being a grandmother to her 45 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. She always taught the gospel to her posterity, and she set an example by serving a mission at the age of 62 in the England, Bristol, Mission. Besides her family, her greatest love was the temple where she served as a worker for thirty-nine continuous years except during the time she served as missionary in England.
