After a life filled with love, family, and friends, Nadine Tait Johnson died peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023. Nadine was born on March 29, 1935, to Sylvia Gibson and Orson D. Tait in Cedar City, Utah. She had five siblings: Robert Tait, Joy T. Murphy, Deniece Tait, Karren T. Johnson, and Shirleen T. Draper. Nadine attended Cedar High School, where she loved to sing
and dance. She graduated in 1953.
Nadine’s life changed forever when she met Dean R. Johnson. They fell in love and were married on August 15, 1953. They were sealed in the St. George temple and enjoyed a remarkable marriage of over 70 years that has blessed generations of their descendants. Dean and Nadine had four children - D. Brandon Johnson, Valorie J. Parker (Brad), Trent T. Johnson, and Todd F. Johnson (Erin) - and raised their family in Salt Lake City. Over time, they added 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Nadine loved spending time with her family. She planned reunions and get-togethers, took fun family road trips, and taught her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren Christmas songs on her set of handbells.
Nadine had a talent for making the world around her more beautiful. She graduated from the Salt Lake School of Design and later worked as an interior designer at Ethan Allen. Nadine loved to garden and adorned her house and yard with beautiful plants and flowers. She appreciated the beauty of the world around her and enjoyed vacationing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and taking scenic drives in Southern Utah.
Nadine cherished her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Primary, Young Women’s, Relief Society and as a Cub Scout Leader and Stake Dance Director. Nadine also enjoyed deep and enduring friendships that added color and brought joy to her life. Nadine’s life was particularly enriched by her decades-long friendship with Joan Ashton.
Nadine’s family would like to thank all of the medical professionals who skillfully and lovingly cared for Nadine at the end of her life and give particular thanks to Nadine’s nurse Shauntelle, who took a genuine interest in Nadine’s condition and was exceptionally kind and attentive in all of her interactions with Nadine and her family.
