Mona Lynn Litster passed peacefully in the morning on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her home in St. George, Utah.
Mona was born on April 4, 1951 to Bill and Bernice Campbell in Pocatello, Idaho. Ten years later, the family, including her two sisters Kim and Tammy, relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. There she attended grade school, junior high, and graduated from Western High School in 1969. After graduation she went on to become a toll operator for Central Telephone Company and anxiously awaited the return of her high school sweetheart and fiancé Ralph W. Litster from college and the National Guard.
Ralph and Mona were married on April 25, 1970 in the LDS Church. Together they welcomed their two children Ralph Q. Litster in 1973 and Noel DeAnn Litster Dover in 1974. They built a wonderful life together. Ralph continued to pursue his career in construction and Mona explored various interests. She worked in the medical field for a short time, was a professional decorator for Ralph Jones Display, and became a licensed manicurist in the 80's. She had a truly creative side to her that was always evident in the beautiful Christmas trees she decorated and the airbrush art she loved to do on nails. Eventually, Ralph and Mona went on to open their own construction business, RML Enterprises, Inc. As she would say, this was due to a bet Ralph made her - and she was determined to prove she could do it! For over 20 years they grew and adapted to the modern needs of the Las Vegas valley until they retired from the construction industry in 2007.
After retirement they moved to St. George, Utah full time. Mona loved living in St. George! She delighted in having her children and grandchildren come to visit and explore all the fun activities their new community offered. Ralph had begun to work in Zion as a Shuttle Driver and loved it so much that Mona decided she had to be there too! She worked alongside him at Parks Transportation for five years. Zion was a special place for them.
Mona was a risk taker and that is probably why she loved to gamble! She loved to watch the lights and listen to the fun sounds of the machines - especially when she won! Her grandkids may have even played a game or two of Keno with her before they were legal. Gambling reminded her of her grandma - whom she dearly loved. She also enjoyed camping with Ralph in their motorhome, visiting her children in Las Vegas and Texas, spending time with her dear friends - many of them from her beloved neighborhood, and collecting flowers - all kinds of flowers.
Mona was a strong willed woman with a fierce love for her family. Ralph and Mona loved and cherished each other for 53 years, recently celebrating their wedding anniversary. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone that she could. If you knew her you loved her, if you were not her friend - you wanted to be her friend. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She always looked amazing, even while she courageously battled cancer for the past three years. Many times, it was remarked that you would never know she was ill.
Mona is survived by her husband Ralph; son Ralph Q. Litster and daughter-in-law Kelly Litster of Missouri City, Texas; daughter Noel Litster Dover and son-in-law Christopher Dover of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren: Morgan Dover, Kristen Arima-Dover, Jake Dover, Quentin Litster, and Joseph Litster; and sisters Kim Mummey-Horn and Tammy DeLong.
Mona was preceded by her brother-in-law in 1982, father and father-in-law in 1995, her mother-in-law in 1998, and mother in 2003.
Services will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Mona Lynn Litster on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3860 S. Bentley Rd., St. George, Utah. Funeral at 12pm, followed by graveside services at 1:30pm. Mona will be laid to rest in the Tonaquint Cemetery of St. George Utah.
