Michelle Connor Jensen, 56, completed her battle with melanoma and passed through the veil on December 20, 2023. She was born on March 4, 1967 in Provo, Utah to Ruben Dale and Sharon Viola Connor.
Michelle was fiercely loyal, protective, and independent. The oldest of 8 children, she learned the values of hard work, leadership, and responsibility early in life. Michelle was articulate and intelligent and could readily converse with just about anyone. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and particularly enjoyed the time she was able to serve in Primary.
She went to Weber State College, studied Emergency Medicine and certified as an EMT. This proved an essential skillset since she met her sweetheart and eternal companion in the back of an ambulance while giving CPR to a patient. Brad and Michelle were married August 10, 1988 in Ogden, UT and then their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on August 10, 1990. She made Brad whole, loving him unconditionally as they traversed life together for over 35 years.
Michelle was connected to nature and loved animals. There were horses, pedigreed goats and chickens galore at her West Bountiful home. She also loved her dog Anna and cats Rocky and Oreo. Michelle loved country music and rodeo. She enjoyed seeing the opportunities and watching the experiences of what having animals did for her family.
Michelle approached life with an ALL-IN attitude. Nothing about her was transparent, vague, or done halfway. She was about as real a human being as possible and one always knew what she stood for, and where you stood in her eyes. Michelle held herself to a high standard and expected the same of her family and friends. In her father’s words she was “fiercely loyal”. Once you had Michelle in your corner, she was always your ally.
Michelle loved a lot of people, but she revered her husband Brad, her children, and particularly her grandchildren who lovingly called her Nama. She will continue to be their protector, champion, and greatest fan until she sees them again.
She loved Minky blankets and often gave them to people she loved as gifts, a permanent reminder of her warmth, generosity, and kindness. One had to be very careful expressing a need or a want in front of Michelle, because she would often insist on giving you whatever she had, as if you had no choice in the matter. Brad and Michelle recently moved to Washington to be closer to her parents and family. She was able to spend time and help care for her father before his passing in 2022. His gratitude has extended on beyond the grave and will likely involve tears and a warm embrace on the other side of the veil for Michelle.
You can visualize Michelle rooting for the New Orleans Saints NFL football team or U of U football drinking an ice cold Coke. Michelle loved Coke and was literally never without one until cancer dictated it. She loved to chew ice, but not just any ice, she had her favorite kinds and she carried a modified dispenser full of her special ice (with a spoon) wherever she went.
Michelle created “Chelle’s Crew” on Facebook at the beginning of her cancer journey. Numerous posts have been made by her friends and family that illustrate the things that made Chelle special. Just a sampling from several…
She was a fighter, a warrior, an angel, an amazing, incredible, and beautiful woman loved by all.
She had sweetness, sass, and spice, and was a delightful friend and neighbor.
She was a force to be reckoned with. She had a gift of gathering and befriending all that knew her.
She was a special soul who loved life. She took an interest in others and impacted them.
She accepted others and cared deeply for them.
She was brave, strong, upbeat, inspiring, and caring in spite of personal trials.
Michelle believed in the power of prayer and she believed in God and trusted Him. She said, “I don’t know what is in store for the future, but I absolutely know that I have a family and tribe that is incredibly supportive and you have no idea what that means to me. Please know how very much each of you are loved! I’m so grateful for every person who has offered a smile, a prayer, and any kind of service. I’m a better person because of each of you.”
Thanks Michelle for sharing your life and your big heart with so many.
