Michael Scott Bills, 76 passed away at home surrounded by family on September 9, 2023 in Saint George, Utah after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
Michael was born in Ogden, UT to James Scott Bills and Addie Louise Bills on December 9, 1946. He went to high school in Clearfield, UT and joined the Army National Guard after graduating in 1965. After basic training he returned to Ogden and went to Weber State University. He received his degree in Respiratory Therapy as the first graduating class in that field. While attending WSU, he met Martha Andrea Mortenson and they married on December 14, 1966, in Ogden, UT.
After college they moved to Cortez, Colorado and raised four boys. Michael was the first Respiratory Therapist in Cortez, CO and started the RT program there. Michael was still active in the Army National Guard during this time and accomplished the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was the longest serving commander in the State of Colorado and served 38 years retiring December 9th, 2006. Michael was involved in his four boy’s activities, active in the community, enjoyed refereeing junior high and high school football games and playing golf.
Michael moved to Saint George, UT in 1999 where he finished out his Respiratory Therapist career at Intermountain Medical Hospital retiring in 2013. Michael enjoyed the 24 years spent in Saint George, UT playing golf, camping, being active in his church and spending time with the multiple family members that lived in the area.
Michael is preceded in death by James Bills (father), Louise Bills (mother), Dean Bills (brother), Shelly Bills (sister), Steve Bills (brother), David Bills (son), and Dana Bills (nephew).
Michael is survived by Martha Bills (wife), Michael Bills Jr. (son), Anthony and Kimberly Bills (son and daughter in law), Matthew Bills (son), Morgan Bills (granddaughter), David Bills (grandson), and Micah Bills (grandson).
