Merelyn Joyce Gray Millward age 87, was called home to her loving Heavenly Father on
October 16, 2019 to be reunited with her sweetheart. Merelyn was born on June 11,1932 in Salt
Lake City UT to Robert Arthur and Flossie Carrie Ringwood Gray. Merelyn graduated from
South High School in SLC where she met her eternal companion James Walter Millward. They
were married April 2, 1953 in the SLC temple. They were blessed with 5 sons and 1 daughter
and over 100 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was everything to Merelyn. She
loved being with her family. Merelyn was always the best fan, supporting her children and
grandchildren in all their endeavors. Merelyn loved music, she loved to sing, play the piano, and
loved to accompany her husband with his trumpet playing. Merelyn loved to perform with her
husband and being Mrs Santa Claus to his Mr Santa was a highlight in their life and brought joy
to many people. Merelyn also loved to paint.
Merelyn loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. Merelyn held many positions in the church. Merelyn taught
unconditional love to all by example. Everyone was always welcome in her home and she made
them feel loved and safe. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the honor of knowing
her.
Merelyn is preceded in death by her husband James Walter Millward, Her parents Robert and
Flossie Gray, all her brothers and sisters Evelyn (Branson) Neff, Lorraine (KIm) Richmond,
David (Carol) Gray, infant brother Robert. Survived by her children David (Debbie), Richard
(Lorna), Sherie (Stephen) Adam, Robert (Wendy), James (Shawnalea), Michael (Lindsay).50
Grandchildren and 49 Great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and Brother and sister
in laws Bill and Nancy Sherwood, Marianne and (Raymond- deceased) Feller.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday Oct 23, 2019 from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm at Hughes Mortuary
1037 E 700 S, St George UT. Also on Thursday at the River Ridge Ward 1750 E Foremaster Dr
St George, UT from 9:30 am-10:30 am with Funeral services to follow at 11:00 am, Interment
will take place at the Tonaquint Cemetery following the Services.
