Melissa Laub Brown, 36, returned to her Father in Heaven Monday, October 12 of cardiac arrest. Melissa was born January 3, 1979 in Ogden, Utah to Don R. and Kathy Shorten Laub. Her pride and joy and light of her life were her two sons, Mason and Kaleb. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved them dearly. From the time she was a small child Melissa loved to cook. She was an excellent chef and worked at various restaurants and catering businesses. Melissa enjoyed the outdoors and many sports, especially basketball. She loved animals, including her dogs, Winnie, Cleo and Nelly. She loved to read, wrote beautiful poetry, loved funny movies and all kinds of music. She painted abstract desert scenes, loved roses and had the greatest sense of humor. Melissa could fix everything around the house including changing the oil and brakes on her car. She inherited those traits from her Dad with whom she had a special bond. But most of all, those that knew her best, knew she loved and could forgive anyone, anything. They knew her infectious smile and how she loved to laugh. They knew her to be a champion of the underdog and she would go out of her way to help anyone she could. The last three days of her short life were spent helping a homeless single mother find a place to stay. She is survived by her husband, Kade Brown and their son Kaleb, her former husband Matt Bithell and their son Mason, her parents, her sister Angela Quayle (Jay), her brother Nicolas Laub (Alexis) and her nieces Keira and Addie Laub and Kate Quayle. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Helen Shorten and Gaydra Laub, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers Val R. Laub and Ralph E. Shorten. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Mulberry chapel at 3381 Mulberry Drive, St. George Utah at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing preceding the funeral from 9:00 to 10:30. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery following the service.
