Marva Lynne Simms Zwahlen was born on October 11, 1953 to Edward and Mildred Simms in Price Utah. After a long battle with several illnesses she passed away peacefully on Monday February 10th in St. George Utah. She was the youngest of 5 children. Marva was the baby as well as the only girl in her family. Marva grew up in Spring Glen, Utah. Marva learned the value of hard work as she worked alongside her parents at The Blue Cut Service Station.
Education was very important to her. After graduating high school she attended the College of Eastern Utah and excelled in her accounting classes. It was at CEU where she met and fell in love with her eternal sweetheart David Zwahlen. David and Marva were married on December 1, 1973 in the Manti Utah Temple. After they were married they moved to Idaho Falls where Marva worked to help put David through college. After college they moved back to Spring Glen, Utah where they started welcoming their four amazing sons. David Lee, Jonathan, Mark and Bradley.
Marvas life was full of service; she was an eternal Scout Leader who earned the rank of Silver Beaver. She served proudly as the PTA president at Sally Mauro Elementary in Helper Utah. Marva was proud to have the opportunity to be able to stay home and raise her four boys.
Marva was a faithful member of the church of Jesus Christ where she served as Primary President as well as many other callings throughout the Church. She was an avid homemaker where she was truly an artist at heart. She loved to create many beautiful things. She was an amazing seamstress who loved to share her talent. Marva loved decorating and displaying her holiday villages. She was known for making treats of all kinds during the holidays. Her grandchildren always anticipated her homemade suckers and rice krispie treats. The treats were always a “Surprise Delivery” for her grandchildren. She and Dave would “Doorbell Ditch” their homes and wait for the grandkids to come out and try to find them. Their squeals of joy always brought a smile to her face. Marva lived to serve her family and all the people around her. Her stories were always fun to listen to and she loved sharing them. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren at their various activities. Her “Yoohoo” could always be heard from the stands as she got their attention to let them know she was there.
Marvas greatest joy has always been her family.
Marva is survived by her four amazing sons David Lee (Kara), Johnathan (Robin), Mark (Laura) and Bradley (Tyler). Her grandchildren Haylee Oviatt (Branson), Conner, Ashlynne, Brooklynn, David Lee III, Lex, Logan and Scarlett. Her sister-in-laws Jessie, Connie, and Kristine Simms as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Eternal Companion David Lee Zwahlen, her parents Edward and Mildred, and her brothers Eddie, Vincent, Kent and Calvin Simms.
