Mark J. Coleman, aged 76, former long-time owner of The UPS Stores in St. George, Utah, passed away
peacefully on July 24, 2023 at his home in St. George. He was born on March 17, 1947 in Salt Lake
City, Utah the son of John Spande Coleman and Leila Alice (Clausen) Coleman. Mark held a B.S. degree
from Westminster College in Salt Lake City where he majored in Economics, Business and Political
Science.
Mark had an extensive corporate career with a significant background in marketing, sales and business
management, focused primarily on the industries of Tourism and Aviation . Besides being a founding
officer of America West Airlines, Mark also held the position of Senior Vice President of Marketing and
Planning at various airlines including America West, TWA, Western Pacific and Midway. He also was
involved with franchise-based companies such as Thrifty, Avis and The UPS Store. His entrepreneurial
spirit and considerable corporate experience in Marketing and Sales contributed greatly to the success of
The UPS Store franchise in St. George from 2004 – 2022.
Always supportive of others in their careers, many long-time associates remember Mark, to this day, as
one of the most helpful, supportive and inspiring people they have ever worked with. Though Mark met
and worked with many sports teams and celebrities over the years – one of his favorite memories was
that of meeting Pope John Paul II and directing his travel while in the USA. Mark was a quiet, laid-back
kind of guy who always had time for others and had interesting stories and jokes to tell.
He loved his Border Collies who seldom left his side. He enjoyed playing his guitar, watching football
and watching golf, playing golf and talking golf with Jan!!
Mark leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Jan, his 2 children whom he loved beyond
words, son Jeffrey (Courtney) Coleman of Portland, Oregon, daughter Carrie (Ben) Bost of Meridian,
Idaho, 5 wonderful grandchildren, brother Tom Coleman of Park City, Utah and a niece and nephew.
Jan’s entire family mourns the loss of Mark as a cherished family member.
