With saddened hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Marion Ora Johnston on October 31, 2023, at her residence at Sterling Court in Saint George, Utah, with daughter Carol at her side. She quietly passed from this earthly life to join family and friends who were undoubtedly waiting for her. What a reunion, For Sure!
She was born Marion Ora Anderson on March 15, 1928, to parents Truman Ephraim Anderson and Consuela Naomi Hardy in South Gate, California. She was the oldest of 3 daughters, twin sisters, Myrle and Myrna followed.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, sister Myrle, stepmother Maggie, loving husband, Howard Walker Johnston(2014), son Kenneth Alan Johnston(2022), and great granddaughter Analise Marie Nielsen (2023).
She is survived by son, Howard Ronald Johnston(Shelly) and daughter Carol Connie Lamb(Brian) and sister Myrna Evelyn(David) and sister-in-law Marlene Pauley and many nieces and nephews. Marion and Howard had 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Marion went to school in South Gate, California and later to Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles, Ca. where she met the love of her life, Howard Walker Johnston. They were married July 9, 1948 in Huntington Park, California. They moved to Long Beach in 1952 where they raised children, Howard Ronald, Kenneth Alan and Carol Connie. San Diego became their home in 1980 before moving to Saint George in 2009.
Marion was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she served in various callings in Relief Society and Primary. Marion loved to play golf in her younger years and was a avid quilter. Many were the recipients of her beautiful quilts. Marion loved the Savior, Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father and her family so very much.
Mother, we will miss you terribly, but we know you loved us and we loved you and we take comfort in knowing that one day we will see you again, your loving children, Ron and Carol, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
