Marilyn Fish MacLellan, aged 83, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, at her home in Washington, Utah, after a 12-year battle with cancer. She was born in Long Beach, California on June 3, 1941; the only daughter of Hamilton “Murphy” and Leola “Billie”. She grew up in La Puente, California on an orange and avocado ranch, riding horses, and having many adventures with her parents. She attended BYU in Provo for a couple of years then became a certified medical assistant in Long Beach, California. She married her first husband in 1963, and had four children. She worked in several physician offices during her marriage to Ron, where the physicians appreciated her conversational abilities with patients. After their divorce, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack, eloping in Las Vegas in 1995. After living in Washington and Idaho, they settled in the St. George area. She loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, genealogy, and was particularly fond of working in the Primary. She served a mission with Jack at the Idaho Falls Temple while living in Idaho. She loved sewing, cooking and making her famous enchiladas and chocolate cake, crafts, and anything with fishes. No matter where she went, she would strike up a conversation with anyone. Her children, grandbabies and Jack were her greatest passions. For more than 15 years, she was honored to be a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and volunteered in the Museum in St. George, holding numerous leadership positions. She is survived by: her husband, Jack; her three children, Ronda Hughes (Tracey Johnstone), Eric Hughes (Monica), and Ryan Hughes (Cynthia); her seven grandchildren, Grayson Hughes, Emory Hughes, Hannah Garrow (John), Julia Hughes, Chloe Hughes, Zachary Hughes, and Hudson Hughes; and seven step children, 33 step-grandchildren, and 29 step-great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her stepsister, Patricia, and her eldest child, Aaron. Family, friends, and others are invited to the funeral at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 860 N. Fairway Drive in Washington, Utah, at 11:00am on August 29, to reminisce and honor the life of this daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
