Marilyn Pollard Bons

February 27, 1938 — February 8, 2025

St. George, Utah

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Bons, who departed this world on February 8th, 2025, at the age of 86 surrounded by her family.

Born on February 27th, 1938, in Provo, Utah. Marilyn was the child of LaVerda St. Jeor and Frank Pollard. Marilyn grew up in Salt Lake, graduating from West High School and later in life attended Stevens Henager College.

Shortly after high school, Marilyn married Gerald Kretschmann. Together they had four children. They later divorced. Marilyn met Leo Bons whom she called her ‘white knight.’ They were married in 1974. Together they traveled all over the world and had many happy adventures until Leo’s passing in 2002.

Marilyn was always so excited to see her family and friends. She would give the strongest hugs, and her smile would light up the room. Marilyn loved playing games with family, watching movies, hiking, reading, driving her yellow golf cart, and going on daily walks with her dog Ronnie.

Marilyn participated in the Huntsman Senior games where she won a gold and silver medal in lawn bowling. She sang with the Methodist Choir where she performed at the Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center and finally at St. Peter’s Basilica for the Pope in the Vatican City.

Marilyn is survived by her son Dan (Linda) Kretschmann, Jeni (Dave) Yates. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo, son Steve and daughter Dianna.

While our hearts mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Her spirit will live on in our hearts. We also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the many ways she enriched our lives.

In honor of Marilyn’s wishes there will be no formal services. A private family graveside service will be held on a later date.
