Lynn Roy Oyler

January 24, 1952 — July 29, 2024

St. George, UT

With heavy hearts we say goodbye in this life to Lynn Roy Oyler who died suddenly on July 29th, 2024. All that knew him will feel a deep loss, but there is comfort and peace in recognizing all the joy and laughter he brought to this world, and the countless lives he touched through his altruistic character, selfless acts of kindness and dependability spanning his lifetime. Nobody will forget his infectious laugh and incredible hugs that so many people had the pleasure to experience.

Lynn was born in Ogden, Utah, on January 24th, 1952, to parents Eugene Bingham Oyler and Freda Petersen. Growing up in Perry Utah, Lynn learned quickly the value and reward of hard work which he carried with him throughout his life. Lynn spent most of his life living in Northern and Southern Utah, but also enjoyed living in Hawaii, California, and Texas.

He married his eternal sweetheart Betty in Ogden Utah on November 26th, 1983. The two were inseparable and spent 41 amazing years together. Along with Betty came two small boys Bryan and Jeff Newman whom he raised and loved as his own.

Lynn's biggest passions in life were his family, flying, riding his motorcycle, and helping others. Lynn had an adventurous entrepreneurial spirit, paired with many skills and talents that made it possible for him to create many new ideas, and meaningful businesses throughout his lifetime. There seemed to be nothing he couldn't dream up and turn into a reality. He possessed a vast knowledge and skillset for all things related to construction and home building. His eldest granddaughter Mia put it best when she said, "If Papa can't fix it, we're screwed!"

Lynn is a shining example to everyone of true selflessness, humble generosity, genuine compassion, and an acknowledgement that our time on this earth is short, so live it to the fullest, don’t let fear stop you from following your dreams, be kind to your neighbor, and love conquers all!

Lynn is proceeded in death by his parents Eugene and Freda. Brothers Richard and Harold. He is survived by his wife Betty, children Bryan (Geneva) and Jeff (Amber), grandchildren Mia, Evie, Julie, Damian, Calili, and Theodore. Siblings Jeannie Godfrey (Jerry), Dorothy, Ranae, and Diane.

Family and friends will gather in the near future to honor and remember him with a celebration of life in both Salt Lake City and St. George Utah. Dates and times to come.
