Loris Noreen (Ball) Bills ‘Lorie’ of St. George, Utah passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 at age 85. She was a resident of Beehive Homes of St. George at the time of her passing.
Lorie was Born May 30,1939 in Evanston, Wyoming to Robert H. and Katherine M. Ball. During high school Lorie met Royce Bills and they started dating. Royce graduated before Lorie and he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Eastern State mission. Lorie graduated from Evanston High School in 1957. Lorie then attended Weber State University focused on beautician training and lived with her Grandmother Ball in Ogden, Utah. After Royce returned from his mission, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 11, 1960. Lorie and Royce moved to San Francisco for a short time while Royce graduated as a licensed funeral director. The couple then returned to Evanston where Royce joined his father’s funeral home business. They were blessed with 5 girls and 1 boy while in Evanston.
In 1977 Royce left the funeral business and they moved to Taylorsville, Utah. Lorie was a small-town girl in a big city however they moved close to her sisters Kay and Shirley in Taylorsville and that was a great comfort to her. Lorie soon made many lifelong friends in Taylorsville. She remembers her years there with great fondness. While in Taylorsville they were blessed with another baby boy. In 1989 Royce and Lorie moved to Henderson Nevada, where Lorie found herself in an even bigger city. Again, Lorie made a small community of friends, neighbors and ward members.
Royce and Lorie had their eye on moving to St. George, Utah and in 1994 the opportunity came when they could make that happen. Lorie was excited to join her parents and other family members in St. George. She was joined by her cousin Sheila Carter who is a close and lifetime friend. Lorie continued making good friends and serving faithfully in her ward. Lorie has spent her last 31 years in St. George, and she loved the area and especially the many birds that would frequent her yard.
Lorie’s home and how well it was kept, has always been very important to her. She worked hard over the years to always keep a clean, organized and beautiful space for her family. Her home was always open and filled with hospitality. She loved having visitors, especially family and most especially her grandchildren. She was a great Nana. Always cooking favorite foods and playing games late into the night with her grandkids.
In 2015 after 55 years of marriage, Royce preceded Lorie in death. She has missed him greatly and has always looked forward to their reunion. Her faith was a great source of comfort to her. She continued throughout her life as a woman of faith in the Lord and an example to others.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her older sister Kay. She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Wright, Shirley Earl, Kathy Welling, Susan Loveridge and Nancy Bodine.
She is survived by her 7 children – Ann (Duff) Astin, David (Kate) Bills, Diane Bills, Dawna (Brent) Pedersen, Denice (Carey) Maedgen, Danelle Bills and Daniel (Crystal) Bills. Lorie was Nana to 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren all of whom she adored.
