Lorin and his companion organized themselves to learn and began teaching the Italians in their own language. Later, they had special permission to travel to Southern Italy where they performed some of the first baptisms in Italy, even prior to the dedication of that land for the preaching of the gospel. The families who accepted baptism later became influential Church leaders among the Italian people.
