Lloyd Vowles

Lloyd A. Vowles, 86, of St. George, Utah passed away June 21, 2023. He was born in Tooele, Utah to Douglas and La Preal Johnson Vowles on July 17, 1936. Lloyd graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Finance. He worked for IBM for over 20 years, then worked for Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) in IT Management in Denver, Co. until his retirement in 1993.

Lloyd was blessed with 7 children from his first marriage to Verna Evertsen. He married Jane in January of 1992, and was blessed with 3 stepchildren. Jane and Lloyd were married until his death.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeff. He is survived by his wife Jane, sons Steven, Eric (Staci) and Glenn (Wendy), daughters Linda (Bryce), Karen (Sean) and Cynthia (Steve). He is also survived by his stepchildren Carrie, Debbie (Brad) and Sean, brother Dee, and sisters Mildred and Valerie. Lloyd also had 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who he loved very much.

Lloyd and Jane moved to St. George in 1993 where he was always on the go. He loved any outdoor activity- camping, boating, golfing, water skiing, snow skiing, geo-caching and hiking with his dogs. He was very active in his church and played an integral part in obtaining the land that the church now sits on. He loved spending time with his family and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held Saturday, July 15th at 1:00 pm at the Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in St. George, UT. There will be light refreshments after the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a small donation in Lloyd’s name to the Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church Music Department, as Lloyd loved singing in the church choir.
