Leonard Boyce Riggs, age 55, passed away peacefully while sleeping, in St. George, Utah where he and his husband were in the process of relocating. Leonard, the youngest of four children, was born July 16, 1964 in Panguitch, Utah to Joseph Ivor Riggs and Elaine (Truman) Riggs. He married Ronald Coston June 14, 2014 on the Lake Tahoe Bleu Wave Yacht, Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Leonard was raised in Hatch, Utah with his early education taking place in Panguitch. He graduated from high school at Cedar City High and attended college at SUU. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business and Accounting at the LDS Business College, Salt Lake City, Utah.
At the age of 12, Leonard started working at the New Bryce Motel, his boss said he was the best employee he’d ever had. Leonard has carried a high standard work ethic to every job since. With 17 years managing various Arby’s locations and 18 years in Property Management, specializing in apartment communities in and around the Salt Lake Valley, Leonard was embarking on a new journey as an apartment community manager in St. George, Utah.
He loved flowers and in his property management career, he was meticulous about having pristine flower beds. If his flower beds weren’t the way he wanted, he’d have the landscaping company come back out to make improvements.
Leonard had a fear of heights however, he would still climb the highest ladder, helping build the family cabin. He was quite the handy man. He worked regularly with his family on projects in and around the cabin, along with individual family member home projects.
Leonard was terrified of birds. He had no recollection as to why, but for him, birds were not his friends. Funny thing is, Leonard would move away so fast in the presence of a bird, it was almost like he was taking flight with wings himself.
He loved amusement parks, especially roller coasters. He could ride the same roller coaster back to back, screaming with excitement and thrills every time.
Leonard was easy to love and always generous with everyone. When you were his friend you felt like the most important person in the world. He was funny and the best person to be with at events because his commentary would have you rolling. He loved full out and never gave up on anyone he loved.
Leonard is survived by husband Ronald Coston, St. George, Utah; parents, Ivor and Elaine Riggs, Cedar City, Utah; sisters, Michelle Riggs (Renea) St. Petersburg, Florida, Lesli Arnold (Robert) Cedar City, Utah; brother, Brad Riggs, Cedar City, Utah; son, Michael Dolce-Riggs (Alisha) Bountiful, Utah; daughter, Sharla Hood, Riverside, California; sons, Jermaine Coston (Rachelle) San Diego, California, Tim Tierney (Desirae) St. Louis, Missouri area; nieces, nephews and several grandchildren.
