Layne Roy Ashby

Our Father in Heaven welcomed Layne into the next life on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Despite his health, the last few months of his life was full of healing and joy. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his unfailing ability to make anyone who came in contact with him smile and laugh. He loved music, hiking, camping, building and getting to know others.

Layne served an honorable full-time mission to the Florida Tampa mission from 1976-1978. During which he met his first wife Jeanie who he married in the Jordan River Temple in 1987. Together they had four children Krista, Jill, Beth, Mark and one granddaughter Kailey. Later Layne re-married Cindy Ashby in the St. George Temple in 2009 and acted as a father for her children Alesha, Chase, Nedra and Cheyenn, and as a grandfather to Alesha’s daughters Iris, Jaya and Harlow, all of whom will cherish the smiles and laughs shared with Layne throughout their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father James Roy Ashby. He is survived by his Mother Arlene Jeppson Ashby, his siblings James Ashby (Dawn), RaChell Jensen (Hal), Lynette Jenkins (Russell), Suzette Holt (Rick), Klint Ashby (Tricia), Heather Johnson (Eric), Calee Bulloch (Darren) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of these memories and the life he lived will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 25, 2018 in his ward house at 1184 N Dixie Downs Rd, St George, UT. A public viewing will also be held from 9:30-11:00 AM.  All who wish to celebrate these memories are invited to join.
