At 11:11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024, our beloved mother left this mortal existence surrounded by her family. She was 71 years old.
Laura Lee Stoddard Hodson was born on July 28, 1952. She was the 4th of 7 children born to Joel and Jean Stoddard in Spokane, Washington. At an early age the family moved to Chula Vista, CA where she later graduated high school from Castle Park High School. She then went on to obtain a BS in Psychology from Utah Valley University and a BS in Elementary Education from Utah State University.
Laura was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a strong personal testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ. In her lifetime she held many different callings within the church, but her favorite was always when music or genealogy was involved.
Growing up, mom was always there for us, whether we needed help with homework, learning to sew or bake some of our favorite goodies, or just be a shoulder to cry on. She instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a role model who we will always look up to.
Our mother was a kind and caring woman who always put the needs of her children and grandchildren before her own. She faced every challenge in her life with faith, courage and dignity. She was a source of inspiration to us all and the lives she touched will always remember her.
Laura was a devoted mother of two daughters, Jenny Bryant of Richfield, UT and Jessica Behunin (Shane) of St. George, UT. She was loved by many, including her grandchildren; Tyler Behunin (Jessi), Kylie Behunin, Haley LeBaron (Tristyn), Kaitlyn Layton (Ty), Dillon Wood, William Wood and Megan Wood and 10 great grandchildren.
We would like to thank the staff at Dixie Hospice for their loving care of our mother during her last days.
Services will be January 16, 2024, at Hughes Mortuary; 1035 E 700 S St George UT. A viewing will take place at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral services to follow at 11:00 am. The interment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery in St George, UT.
