Klair Edward Mendenhall, 88, of St. George, Utah passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Klair was born on June 25, 1935 in Safford Arizona.
He is survived by his wife Bertha Mendenhall, 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his daughter Kelly Plautz.
Klair was a devout Christian. He spent much time reading the bible, going to men’s bible study, and was involved in the prison ministry at Purgatory in Washington County. Thirty-six years of Klair’s life was dedicated to the service of his country in the United States Coast Guard, and later extending his service as an LA County Sheriff. His passions were made up of cooking, eating, woodworking, traveling, jazz music, history, and attending grandchildren’s extra-curricular activities. In addition to being a fascinating man, he was a great friend to many and excelled at bringing joy to others lives.
Funeral services will be held on November 4, 11:00 am at Calvary Chapel St. George, 3922 S. Pioneer Road St. George, Utah 84790. His final place of rest is at the Veterans Memorial at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
