Kent L Goodwin, 68, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 surrounded by his family. Kent was born on September 22, 1955 in Idaho Falls, ID to LaVell Goodwin and LaRue Cobbley Goodwin. Kent married his high school sweetheart Fern Ann Cottam on January 29, 1977 in St. George, Utah.
Kent spent his childhood years in Idaho Falls, ID and New Zealand. He moved to St. George, Utah when he was 14 where he graduated at Dixie High School and attended Dixie College before serving a mission in Chicago, IL. He returned home with honor and married Fern Cottam in the St. George Temple, for time and all eternity.
Kent embodies the love and kindness of Christ and will be remembered by his friends and family for his patience and fun loving songs.
Kent is survived by his wife, Fern, St. George, UT; children Kami (Phil Clark) Vernal, UT, and their children, Tylia (Chris Genovese), Las Vegas, NV, and their children, Lacie (Jake Clark), Airway Heights, WA, and their children, Kayla (Kenny Adamson) St. George, UT, and their children, Jodi Goodwin, Vernal, UT, and her child, Carson (Evie) Goodwin, St. George, UT, and their children, Greg Goodwin, St. George, UT, and Melinda (Randy Rumsey), St. Anthony, ID, and their children; sisters, Kay Borrowman, London, UK, Kathy VanGilder, St. George, UT, TeRia Glauser, St. George, UT; brothers, Brent Goodwin, Santa Clara, UT, Chris Goodwin, Santa Clara, UT; Kent is preceded in death by his parents, LaVell Goodwin and LaRue Cobbley Goodwin, St. George, UT; sister, Karen Hayes, Idaho Falls, ID.
Visitation will be held Thursday May 2nd, 2024 from 6:30-8:00 PM at Hughes Mortuary. A second visitation period will be held Friday May 3rd, 2024 from 10:00 AM to end promptly at 10:45 AM at the Morningside Chapel, 930 S. Morningside Drive, St. George, UT.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Morningside Chapel.
