June H Peterson of St. George, Utah, formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away at 101 years old on July 13, 2023. She was born on June 16, 1922, in Nampa, ID, to Albert F Hedrich and Myrtle G (Smith) Hedrich. She married Reed B Peterson on February 15, 1948, in
Pocatello, ID.
June was raised in Nampa, ID, and graduated from Nampa High School. She attended business school and worked for a County Probate Judge in Caldwell, ID. She then moved with her parents to Pocatello, ID, and became a teletype operator for the Union Pacific Railroad until she married and started her family. She and Reed moved to Napa, California, where Reed worked for the Upjohn Company. While with the Upjohn Company, they were transferred to Novato, CA, Fresno, CA, Sacramento, CA, Minneapolis, MN, Memphis, TN; and Kalamazoo, MI. She resided in Kalamazoo for over 40 years before relocating to St George, UT.
June was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a talented painter and seamstress. She was an animal lover and a classic movie enthusiast. June enjoyed gardening and especially roses. She also loved to entertain and travel. June was a founding member of an all-women’s investment club in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She most of all enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Mark H Peterson (Katy) of St. George, UT, and her three granddaughters, Erika Peterson of Snow Mass, CO, Chelsea Peterson of Seattle, WA, and Paige Peterson of Louisville, KY, along with step-grandchildren, and nieces and a nephew whom she loved dearly. Her husband, Reed B Peterson, and her two brothers, Albert, and Loren, preceded her in death.
Interment and Episcopal services will be on August 7, 2023, at 11:00 am at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
