Heber City, UT - Judith Ann Tarter, 81, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.
Judy was born January 14, 1941 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Maria Garcia and Brasílio Mercado. She graduated from Kapalama High School and became a hula dancer at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Her lovely dancing skills caught the attention of a young man named Clare Tarter, who was stationed in Honolulu, with the Army. They began their courtship. After Clare went back home, to California, he asked Judy to come for a visit and to be his date at his sister’s wedding. She decided that she would take the trip. Clare proposed to Judy during her visit and they were soon married in Laguna Beach, CA.
They made their home together in Orange County, CA where they raised their two sons, Gary and Todd.
Judy was known for her wonderful cooking and decorating skills. She truly enjoyed preparing delicious meals and creating an inviting atmosphere for her family and friends. She used her cooking skills to create a cook book. The funds raised were given to a local women's shelter. Judy was always full of compassion and ready to jump in when help was needed.
Judy was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her son, Todd and her grandsons, Spencer, James, Thomas and Timothy. She is preceded in death by her husband Clare and her son Gary.
