Joseph S. Granecki, 68, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 at Intermountain Hospital in St. George, Utah from a brain aneurysm.
His loving wife and daughter were by his side.
Joe was born April 20, 1954, in Indianapolis, IN., to Stanley and Maudie Granecki. He was raised in Mitchell, IN and lived
in Pana, IL, North Vernon, IN and Mesquite, NV.
Joe was very smart. He graduated from Georgia Southern with a degree in Education and a Masters in Education from Indiana
University.
Joe married Penny Granecki (Kiser) on June 15, 1991, in Pana, IL. They were married for a wonderful 31 years and did
everything together. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Kristi Granecki. Kristi is the center of their world.
Joe had an amazing teaching career for 38 years. He taught Middle and High School Health, PE and Driver's Ed in Illinois
and Indiana. He was very compassionate about sports. For 38 years, he coached Junior High boy's basketball, Junior high
girl's volleyball and High school boys and girls varsity basketball in Illinois and Indiana.
Joe received many achievements throughout his coaching career. He was Hall of Fame Coach of the Year IBCA 1992 and Girls'
Varsity basketball Coach of the Year in Jennings County, IN.
Joe was an avid golfer. That was his passion. You could always find him on the golf course with his golf buddies.
He enjoyed watching sports with his daughter, especially basketball and football. They always watched Sunday football
together while yelling at the TV.His favorite travels include Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Holiday World and Pigeon Forge.
There were so many great memories made throughout his lifetime with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Maudie. Joe is survived by his wife, Penny and daughter, Kristi.
