John Robert Day, better known as Bob, passed away March 6, 2024 in St. George, Utah. He was born in 1947 to Woodrow and Phyllis E. Day. Bob grew up in Duchesne, Utah surrounded by a large extended family. He graduated from Duchesne High School and Utah Technical College. Drafted into the Army, Bob was honorably discharged in 1966.
Bob had an amazing work ethic starting in the family hay fields of Nine Mile Canyon to owner of a heavy equipment construction company in Evanston, Wyoming. He later worked as a foreman for several other construction companies, most notably Ames Construction.
He married Mitzi Miller in 1992 and made St. George, Utah his home. If the sun was shining, summer or winter, Bob was outside planting, pruning and fertilizing his beloved palm trees or hand washing and waxing the cars. He loved a shiny car and he loved sitting on the beach in Hawaii with a good book and a Gatorade cocktail.
Bob took such good care of his little sister, Virginia until her passing. She could twist him around her little finger and usually flatten his wallet just a bit.
Survived by his wife Mitzi, brother Jim and wife Ferdell Day, sisters-in-law and husbands Marsha and Brent Mugaas and Maureen and Dino Bozzetto. Nieces Toni (Troy) Nolan, Krystal Day, Mikki (Ryan) Reid and nephew Phillip (Megan) Miller. Grand nieces and nephews, many cousins, friends and one loveable dog named Buddy Einstein.
Bob requested cremation and no funeral.
