John Alfred Brecke

John “Fred” Brecke, 84, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023. He was born on September 30, 1938 in Salt Lake City to Alfred and Mildred Brecke. He married his sweetheart, Jerry, on March 19, 1966. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Fred is survived by his children, Alison (Darrel) Anderson, Ivins and Garen (Dawn) Brecke, St. George. He has 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one due in February. He is also survived by his sister in law, Syd (John) Hellyer and extended family. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister - Joyce Snow, son - Kelly Brecke, and niece - Cortnee Hellyer.

We would like to thank The Haven at Sky Mountain, in Hurricane, for their loving care over the last couple of years. Our dad made many friends there. As his health declined these past few months, we are grateful to the staff for taking such good care of him. We’d also like to thank Utah Home Hospice and their staff, especially Charlene, Johanna, Crystal, Ken, and Tanya, for being with dad in these last weeks. We will always remember all of your kindness and love for our dad.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 7th with a viewing from 10-11 am at Hughes Mortuary, 1037 E. 700 S. St. George. Graveside service will be held at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S. Dixie Drive St. George, at 11:30 am.
