Janice Barbara Bennett

January 21, 1942 — August 28, 2024

St. George, UT

Jan Bennett (Bates) passed away at the age of 82, on the 28th of August 2024, at her home in St. George, Utah.

She was born 21 January 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ellen Clarissa Bates (Fenton) and Frederick Cyrus Bates. She married Vern Arnold Bennett in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later they divorced.

She spent her childhood living in Salt Lake City, Utah and in Northern California. When she was an adult and had all of her children, she returned to school and earned her GED, followed up earning her Bachelors. She then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas.) She worked as a therapist for over 30 years in Nevada and Utah.

A few of her favorites in life were reading (big fan of this), putting together puzzles, and in her younger years traveling with friends to the beach. She loved finding cool rocks and doing a bit of bird watching. However, she was fascinated with people watching and the funny and clever things they would do.

She is survived by her five children: Russell (Barbara) Bennett, Rodney Bennett, Janalee Bennett, Matthew Bennett and Jodi Bennett. She has 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her father, mother, two sisters and her brother. She is the last of an era to join her Heavenly Father and her family,

Graveside Services and Interment will be on the 3rd of September 2024, 9:00 AM at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George Utah, 84770.

We would like to express our sincerest appreciation to Intermountain Hospice, 555 South Bluff St. #100, St. George, Utah, 84770, the nurses, social worker, and doctors who were instrumental in her care and allowing her to remain in the home, as well as helping her family through the final days of her life.
