St. George, Utah – James (Jim) Wilson Meyer, age 81, passed away October 19, 2022 with his family by his side, due to natural causes.
Jim was born August 9th, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas to Harold Eugene Meyer and Jewell Marie Wilson. Jim and his family moved to Utah when he was a young man where he attended Olympus High school. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer during his teenage years and later loved being a driver on a drag race team with the American Hot Rod Association
On May 22, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he married Sherry Thurston (later divorced), the family moved back to Wichita, Kansas and had their three daughters there. Jim started his career working at the Kansas State Bank. He was the youngest Vice President in the bank’s history at the time. The family moved back to Utah in 1971 where Jim worked in many different professions, including driving truck, owning a laundry mat, working in various tire shops, and finally owning many Sounds Easy video stores. Jim relocated to St. George, Utah in 2016.
Jim is survived his three daughters, Tamra Zimmermann (Craig), St. George, Utah, Michelle Torres, Midvale, Utah and Wendy Duke (Cory), Taylorsville, Utah. Jim had 15 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, June Stewart, Dee Street, and Ruth Boulton. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Jeanne Williams.
Per our dad’s wishes, there will be no services held.
The entire family would like to thank Intermountain Health Care Hospice and St. George Rehab center for their help and care with our dad during his last days, as well as Craig Zimmermann for his diligent care and helping Jim with his projects and care for many years.
