St. George, Utah – Jacqueline Junne Huffman Brown, 84, passed away Thursday, February 13th in the comfort of her daughter's home in St. George, Utah with her daughter, Mari, and son, Dan, both caring for her daily since Christmas 2024. She was born on August 26th, 1940 in Monterey Park, CA to John (Jack) Clayton Huffman, and Doris Arline Durfey.
Jacqueline married Joseph Lerman for 23 years after high school. In 1964 their first daughter, Mariam, was born. Then in 1969, Daniel was born. They lived in Reseda California. Jackie worked for Security Pacific Bank during that time. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1976 and was an active member of the Deaf Branch in St. George, Utah.
Later, she and Timothy Brown were married in the summer of 1986 in Canyon Country, CA. They were happily married for 38 years and he lovingly took care of her until Christmas 2024 when his health could no longer support Jackie’s needs. He faithfully visited her every day while on hospice.
Jackie and Tim moved to St. George, Utah in 2008 and have lived there ever since.
Jackie grew up in El Monte, California. She attended Riverside School for the Deaf. Jackie enjoyed knitting, sewing, woodworking, and making various crafts and art. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture. If she didn’t know how to do something she enjoyed learning how to create or change it. She loved her family dearly. Camping was very important in Jackie’s life. Every few months a few families would go camping together: a caravan of families going up the California Coastline. She still maintained the long-distance friendships that were dear to her from her high school days for over 60 years. Jackie was a wonderful friend to all she met. She always had a silly personality and loved to make friends and family laugh and cheer them up. Jackie has never been without a dog(s). She was very fond of every dog she ever had and her last two (Coco & Lucy) always had to be touching her body at all times.
Jackie and Tim enjoyed going on road trips together. She was an active part in the Deaf community here in Southern Utah and loved going to the Deaf Center’s frequent activities and workshops. She especially loved the Deaf Center’s Senior Citizen’s monthly game day.
She is survived by her husband Timothy Brown St. George, UT; daughter Mari (Dale) Bott, St. George, UT, son Dan (Jeannie) Lerman, Lake Arrowhead, CA; brother Joseph Bates, St. George, UT; 7 grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren; niece Rhonda (Shawn) Adams-Stewart Cedar City, UT. She is preceded in death by her mother Doris A. Durfey, her father John C Huffman, her sister Martha Adams, other nieces and nephews, and other loved ones.
