Ilene Mabey Hancock , 86, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 in her home in St. George, Utah surrounded by family.
She was born July 3, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George Reginald and Sadie Rae Atkins Mabey.
She was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where she graduated from South High School and continued her education at BYU and later in life received her Masters Degree from Westminster College. She worked for over 30 years at Varian Medical Systems in Salt lake City, Utah where she was the Sr. Employee Relations Specialists. After her retirement she traveled the world and visited every continent except Antartica and some places more than once. She was a master Needle Point artist with many beautiful projects. She also loved to bum around the local thrift shops and discount stores and then have lunch on a restaurant patio with family and friends. She loved to go to concerts, plays, art shows, and any open air festivals. She was an advocate of all animals and donated to many charitable organizations.
Preceded in Death by her son Kim Hancock.
She was survived by her Son and Daughter, Mark Hancock, Larraine and Gene Van Orden. Grand Children Lindsey Van Orden, Holly and Zach Sullivan, Austin Van Orden, JD Fife, Chris Hancock, Brady and Teresa Hancock, Nick Hancock and 10 great grand children.
We as family and friend were so grateful for the time we were able to spend with Granny. She always loved being a part of our family gatherings and spending time with all of her grandchildren.
Ilene had requested to not have a service but has asked that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
