Ferrel J Hall

March 2, 1922 — April 6, 2015

Ferrel J Hall

Ferrel J Hall age 93 passed away April 6, 2015.  He was born on March 2, 1922, in Hurricane, Utah to Lafayette and Bertha (Wood) Hall. Ferrel’s work gave him the opportunity to live and establish friendships all over Utah, Nevada and Arizona with Hurricane always being his home base. He served in the US Army during World War II.  After returning from the war he served an LDS mission to the Southern California Mission where he made many life long friends. Following his mission he married Verla Atkin on December 28, 1949, in the St. George Temple.  To this union eight children were born. Ferrel loved his chosen profession in construction.  And to make sure he had a close relationship with his family he found a way to involve them in his work.  It was very common to see Ferrel with some of his children (plus their friends) where ever he went. After Verla’s passing on October 14, 1997, Ferrel married Christie Cornelius on Sept. 5, 1998 and moved to Cedar City.  During his marriage to Christie he developed a close friendship with her children:  Robert, Tom and Bruce Cornelius, Chris Atkin and Evelyn Nelson.   Christie passed away on November 19, 2006.  Ferrel returned to Hurricane and on March 24, 2007, he married R’Dell Hall and they became Aunt Mom and Uncle Dad to their children.  Ferrel had a very deep love for R’Dell’s girls; Sherron Woolsey, Winona Chambers, Janet Staheli Randall and Jaki Collard. With R’Dell’s passing on December 23, 2010, Ferrel moved in with his daughter Toni Curtis, but was able to spend time with all of his children in their homes.   With Richard making sure he could spend time at his cabin on Kolob. Ferrel is survived by his children, JR (Ginger) Hall, Amy (Chad) Humphries, Toni (Jeff) Curtis of Hurricane, Russell Hall of Washington, UT, Becky (Denice) Hughes of St. George, Richard (Bonnie) Hall of Las Vegas, Jeannine (Randy) Davis of Cedar City and Norma (Dave) Masihdas of SLC.  30 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.   Brother, Milton Hall and Sister, Emma Bradshaw of Hurricane, Sister, LaNetta Sanders of Cedar City and Brother-in-law, Ivan Atkin of  Las Vegas. He is preceeded in death by his wives, Verla, Christie and R’Dell, his daughter, Verlene, daughter-in-law, Annette, brothers:  Ersel, Arbon and Keith, step son Marlin Cornelius and step son-in-law Steve Staheli. Special thanks to Hurricane Beehive Home and Southern Utah Home Care and Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Ferrel.
