It is with great sadness we share the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt Eileen Elizabeth Mary Onuska Sammis on March 6th, 2021 at 71 year of age in St. George, Utah.
Eileen was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on March 31, 1949 to Paul Robert Onuska and Eileen OâRourke. She was the second of four children.
Eileen was raised in Beaver, Pennsylvania. As a child, she enjoyed afternoons playing marbles and jacks with her brothers; a love of games that she carried on with her own family. In her teens, she developed a talent as a seamstress sewing much of her own clothing. She was a cheerleader at Beaver High School and was a lifeguard at the community pool. She was outgoing and fun, everyone loved spending their time with Eileen.
Eileen was raised in the Catholic church and converted to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1971. Later that year, she fell in love with Norman Wade Sammis. They were married civilly and then later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Eileen was a talented cook, baker, seamstress, quilter, decorator, and planner. There wasnât much she couldnât do or take on.
Eileen is survived by her eight children, Lindalee (Ron), Shannon (Dell), Matthew (Jennifer), Elizabeth (Randy), Paul (Sasha), Jonathan, Lauren (Brett) and daughter Jeanne sealed to our family in 1984. Her brothers Paul (Linda), Chris and David (Margaret); as well as 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Eileen was a natural nurturer. She cared and loved all those that came into her circle. Her legacy will live on as an incredible woman of faith. She loved God and had a personal relationship with her Savior Jesus Christ which she instilled in her children.
