Dora Mae Blades peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by her seven children. Dora Mae was born June 25, 1936, to Charles and Florence Stark, living in a variety of different places, ending up in Columbia Falls, MT where she graduated from High School in 1955 and met and married the love of her life, Alvin Leo Blades on August 19, 1955. They moved to Arizona for work, then returned to Columbia Falls where they raised their seven children. Dora Mae was incredibly talented, creating a beautiful, loving, and incredibly nurturing home for our family. Our Mother was a pillar in our community where she created lifelong friendships and led a life of service to all those around her. Dora Mae was dedicated to her Faith and loved her Savior Jesus Christ. She loved music and had a beautiful voice where she loved and took many opportunities to sing in the choir and with her family, our lives were always filled with music.
After the passing of her husband on January 27, 1997. Dora Mae retired to the community of St.George, UT where she lived for over 23 years creating new friendships and working and serving in the Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She spent the last 7 months near her children and Salt Lake City, Utah before her passing, she was strong and very independent up to the end of her legacy.
Dora Mae is preceded in death by her beloved husband Alvin Leo Blades, parents Charles and Florence Stark, brother Don Stark, grandson Aaron Thomas Nemelka, and son-in-law Mark Owen Jolley. She is survived by her seven children Jay Dee Blades, Teena Marie White, Kellie Jo Jolley-Bernard, Paula Rae Aegerter, Michael Andrew Blades, Christine Jeanette Sandberg, and Robert Stark Blades and their spouses. Dora Mae has 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and she is known for her fun, vibrant personality, and energy.
Dora Mae will be greatly missed and leaves such an amazing legacy that we will strive to follow her great example of devotion, love of life, and dedication to her Savior. She has left a lasting impression on all those who had the blessing of knowing her and she will live in our hearts we look forward to the time we will see her again.
The family will be honoring and celebrating her life with a graveside service for immediate family followed by a small gathering for extended family and friends to share memories and express love for this incredible woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. This will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1780 Talbot Rd. Columbia Falls, MT. from 1 pm to 2 pm with lunch provided after.
