On August 16, 2023, Donald Joseph Boshard, 80, passed away in his home in St. George, Utah with his wife and daughters by his side. A modern-day Renaissance man, Don was driven to accomplish any goal he set for himself—sometimes through sheer stubbornness. By the end of his life, he could be called a writer, pilot, photographer, scuba diver, sportsman, reader, runner, woodworker, motorcyclist, and animal-lover.
Don was a prominent banker, who helped start several banks in Nevada and Utah, including Town and Country Bank in St. George. A leader in the community and at church, he enjoyed working with the youth at the temple baptistry. He also served as a family history missionary, combining his knowledge of technology with his research experience gained from decades of searching for his biological father. In the final years of his life, Don was blessed to finally find and meet his father’s family, the Knudsens, including two half-sisters and half-brothers.
Born on November 12, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Don was raised by a firecracker of a grandmother, whom he adored; in turn, he raised a pet goose, who absolutely adored him. Having no siblings, Don quickly endeared himself to many, forming lifelong friendships. At the young age of 15, he met his future wife, Carole Hatch Boshard. A romantic at heart, they were married on Valentine’s Day in 1963. They spent 60 years of marriage living mainly in Utah and Nevada, and even spent a few years traveling cross country in their RV.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents—Cliff and Betty Boshard—and his beloved daughter, Tristin Boshard. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carole Hatch Boshard. He is also survived by his children: Pitrice Sanford, Ryan Boshard, and Brecken Jackson as well as 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His legacy of laughter and sarcasm, zest for life and adventurous spirit lives on in them.
