Dennis Richard Lowe - Husband, Dad, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle, and friend. Dennis passed away of natural causes at his home, October 27, 2022. He was 79 Years Old.
Dennis was born September 12, 1943 to loving parents Alma and Marsetta Glazier Lowe.
He married Bonnie Gayle Altman on April 5, 1969, later sealed in the St. George Temple September 30, 1969. After 28 Years of an eternal marriage, she passed away from cancer. They had 4 children together: Derek Richard IkaIka Lowe, Jamzee Kanani Davis, Misty Dawn Maple, and Dusty Eve Adhikari.
On August 1, 2009 he married Lucie Kayleen Carter in the St. George Temple. It was Kayleen's birthday and she says "marrying Dennis Lowe was the best birthday present ever."
Dennis was raised in Beaver, Utah. He loved Beaver and the small knit community. He has 3 sisters whom he adored: Lorri Blanc, Bonnie Swindlehurst, and Jeri Fillmore. He remembered taking care of them for a period of time when his mom was ill. He ironed frilly dresses, combed and styled their hair. The girls shared a memory that they were always excited when Dennis would come home from college.
Dennis attended 1st grade through 12th grade at Beaver High School. He had several girlfriends and knew the favorite "parking" spot. His favorite subject in school was band. Some of his best friends were Bill Twitchell, Jack Heppler, and David Robinson.
Dennis graduated from BYU with a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications. He later achieved a Masters Degree in Education at the University of North Florida.
Dennis served honorably an LDS Mission in the Great Lakes Mission from 1962-1964.
Dennis joined the army in order to not get drafted. On October 28, 1968 after basic training at Fort Ord in Monterey California, he was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. He remained there until he was discharged June 27, 1974. He was an electronic welfare operator - analyst.
Dennis' employment included Sears and Jacksonville's shipyard where one of his responsibilities was payroll on the computer. Once he received his education degree he taught at several elementary schools. His favorite grade was 2nd or 3rd. He worked as a substitute teacher until 72 years of age. He loved working and got really "ticked off" when he couldn't get a teaching job. He had many teachers who would request him to substitute for them because he was always organized, followed lesson plans, and wrote concluding notes about the class. He's had many kids come up to him and tell him he was the best substitute they ever had.
Dennis loved the simple things in life: reading, watching TV (NCIS), the stars and planets, kissing, sunrises and sunsets, Siamese cats and golden retrievers. Dennis loved the gospel. His sisters said that he was a "Mormon 7 days a week." Dennis loved, loved, loved, hiking and shared his love with his family and friends. Hiking was a big part of the first 12 years of Dennis and Kayleen's life.
Dennis didn't like Macaroni and Cheese, pork or red meat and wasn't very happy when he couldn't get a teaching job.
