Deena Tippetts Ellis

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, sister, and friend, Deena Tippetts Ellis age 82 passed away on May 29 th , 2023 in Enterprise Utah from pancreatic cancer.

Deena Ellis was born February 8, 1941, in Delta, Utah. Deena lived in Delta with her family until she graduated from Delta High School on May 26, 1959. Her family then moved to Estacada, Oregon. She worked in Portland for a phone company until she went to college. Deena attended Brigham Young University where she met and married her first husband Iven K. Flake who was the father of her four children. Iven died in 1975. Deena raised her children in American Fork Utah. At the Age of 47, Deena Married William Mark Ellis in the Manti Temple. Deena and Mark had 24 wonderful years together in Central Utah before Mark passed away in 2012. Deena worked as a secretary for several years in Provo, Utah and then in St. George Utah. Deena was an example of hard work, dedication, and perseverance to all who know her. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved southern Utah where she spent time camping and being outdoors. Deena was a true homemaker; skilled in gardening, food preservation, sewing, and cooking. She is known for her homemade bread, biscuits, pies, and soups. Deena loved to read, especially the Bible and The Book of Mormon. She read and listened to scriptures most every day. She was kind and giving to all, and often went out of her way to offer assistance to loved ones and to those she met. Deena was an example of faith and courage in the midst of difficulties. She has blessed the lives of many with her presence and simple grace. Deena shared her sense of humor until her last day. Deena’s belief in God was solid, unquestionable, and evident in the way she lived her life.

Deena is survived by her daughter Lora Harwood residing in Taylorsville, UT, her Sons Ron (Monique) Flake residing in Montpelier ID, Marty (Latwanna) Flake residing in Norway, SC, and James residing in Central, UT. Deena is survived by her grandchildren; Hailey Harwood, Makenna Harwood, Maleah Gordon, Kyler Flake, Caleb Flake, Maura Whitby, Savannah Criswell, Toby Flake, Nadia Afflick, Ethan Flake, Joshua Flake, Abigail Flake, Jacob Warner, Maddie Tubby, Lianna Flake, and Adelina Flake. Deena’s surviving greatgrandchildren are Lyla Gordon, Ezra Gordon, Jude Gordon, and Sawyer Warner. Deena’s surviving siblings are Don (Christine), Roy (Barb) Tippetts, Louise (Jan) Rawlings, and John (Karen) Tippetts.

Deena was preceded in death by spouses Mark Ellis and Iven Flake, brothers Bill Tippetts, Tom Tippetts, and Joe Tippetts, and her parents Heber and Fern Tippetts.

Funeral services for Deena will be held with viewings on Friday, June 2 nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the LDS chapel located at 88 South Center Street in Enterprise Utah. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3 rd at 11:00 AM at the same location. The interment will be held at 2:00 PM at the Central City Cemetery in Central, Utah located on Cedar Drive at about 340 North.
