- Dave Harbour was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 26, 1936. He passed away on November 5, 2024 at his home in Leeds, Utah at the age of 88. His wife, Alice, and family members were by his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
- As a youth in Tulsa, he had a newspaper route, enjoyed square dancing and played high school football. After high school, he joined the Navy Reserve and attended Oklahoma State University, where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
- While in college, he married Marcia and had a son. Later, they had twin daughters and another girl. At age 25, he began a 32-year engineering career with Hughes Aircraft Company in Fullerton, California where he managed programs training Army and Navy personnel on submarine and air defense systems.
- On January 15, 1977, he married Alice who had three children. They now had seven children between them, mostly teenagers. As a family, they enjoyed square dancing, camping, dirt bike riding and travelling. He retired early and in 1994 they built a home in Leeds, Utah. While serving on the Leeds Town Council for five years, he worked full-time updating the General Plan and town ordinances to better meet the long-term needs of the town. He was also instrumental in expanding square dancing in the St. George, Utah community. He and Alice were presidents of the Sunshine Dancers square dance club for many years and he taught beginning and advanced square dance for decades. He was admired for his intelligence, integrity, determination and dry sense of humor.
- He is survived by his wife, Alice; and by his children, Greg, Teri (Alan), Tami, Regina, Brian (Pam), Jim (Lisa); and by his grandchildren, Jason, Cody, Jenn (Lamar), David, Portia, Gwen (Buck), Jade (Tony), Austin, Olivia (Duncan), Phil (Brittany), Jordan (Marina); and by his 22 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Donna and Jean; and his daughter, Kim.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Church, 1495 S. Blackridge Dr., A240, St George, Utah 84770. Viewing from 11 a.m. to noon, service from noon to 1 p.m. followed by a procession to St. George City Cemetery for a small family graveside service at 2 p.m.
