David Fowler Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dad, David Ross Fowler, at the age of 79 on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.

David Fowler was born June 7, 1943 in Pasadena, California to Richard and Marion Fowler. He was the oldest of two children.

David joined the US Navy in 1964. He loved seeing the world and learning different languages, and while in the Navy he was able to do both. David retired from the Navy in 1976. While in the Navy he met his sweetheart Barbara Hope Rechif Fowler. They were married in 1969. David and Barbara had three children and one foster child.

After retiring from the Navy, David embarked on a career as an electrical metrologic engineer. Throughout his career he was able to see more of the world. He retired in 2008 and moved with his wife to Southern Utah to be closer to their family.

David loved to help other people, he was always one of the first to offer his assistance whenever anyone needed help moving, or gardening, or however he could help.

David also loved gardening. Each time the family moved, David made it a priority to plot out where he was going to plant his garden and fruit trees. And Barbara plotted out where David was going to plant all her beautiful roses. They loved working together to make their home a beautiful garden paradise.

David had a great affection for animals, especially dogs, from an early age. His favorite dog was his beloved Lobo. Lobo and David spent their mornings taking long walks together. Sometimes they would be gone for hours watching the sunrise and listening to the beautiful sounds of nature.

David is survived by his four children David (Samantha) Fowler of Gilroy, CA; Stephanie (Brian) Grimwood of St. George, UT; Michael (Andrea) Fowler of Sioux Falls, SD; and Bernie (Nicole) Steele of Eagle Mountain, UT and his eleven grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his parents, sister and eternal companion, Barbara.

    Viewing 9:00-9:45

    Funeral 10:00-11:00

    Graveside service 11:00-12:00 (Tonaquint Cemetery)
